Upper Cervical Chiropractors for Herniated Discs
Our Use of QSM3 Technique
At Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Monmouth, LLC, we use innovative care to return your body to a more biomechanically proper position. We follow the Quantum Spinal Mechanics3 (QSM3)method. Additionally, our doctors utilize the Cox Flexion-Distraction method to gently and effectively decompress lumbar disc herniations.
These practices emphasize the use of technology such as X-rays to take precise measurements of your specific misalignment. Our team uses these measurements to make spinal adjustments, relieving pressure and tension on your back and nerves. Through proper mechanical alignment, normal movement patterns and relieving pressure on discs and nerves, our methods allow the injured tissues to naturally heal themselves.

The Limits of Traditional Care
After a herniated disc, many doctors tell patients to rest for a couple of days and limit physical activity for a while. Traditional care might also include medicine, steroids, physical therapy and, in advanced cases, surgery.
These methods can offer relief for many patients, but they don't always address the root of the issue. Our upper cervical chiropractors aim to target the cause of your pain using accurate measurements to realign the entire spine carefully. Our goal is to correct the trauma that led to the disc herniation in the first place so we can restore balance.
If you feel sharp pain after getting up from the couch or picking up a heavy box while moving, you may be experiencing a herniated disc. Commonly, pain, numbness or burning will radiate down the arm or leg. In some advanced cases, the patient may experience weakness in the arm, hand, leg or foot. These symptoms often seem to come out of nowhere. To find relief, patients typically resort to pain medication, injections and even surgery in some advanced cases.
Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Monmouth, LLC has helped hundreds of patients find relief from the pain and symptoms associated with herniated discs. Our advanced chiropractic procedures enable our doctors to understand the biomechanical changes that led to the disc herniation in the first place. Understanding and correcting your structural changes, which may have resulted from past traumas to the spine, may lead to a long-term solution to stop your symptoms at the root.

What Is a Herniated Disc?
Our spines are made up of bones known as vertebrae. These bones are separated by intervertebral discs that absorb the shock from walking and running. Intervertebral discs contain a flexible outer ring as well as a jelly-like core. The inner core can sometimes push on the outer ring, causing it to slip or bulge between the hard part of your spine and resulting in a herniated disc.
Herniated discs place pressure on nerves and the spinal cord, resulting in sharp pain. Connective tissues can tear as a result of traumatic events, leading to the misalignment of the spine. This spinal misalignment can slowly lead to progressive wear and tear in the soft discs. In other cases, herniated discs stem from a sudden twisting or jolting movement that may occur from daily activities.
When you have a herniated disc, you may experience the following symptoms:
- Shooting pain in the leg or arm
- Numbness or tingling
- Muscle weakness
