Foundation Training focuses on sustained postures, similar to yoga and pilates positions that are specifically focused on strengthening the “posterior chain” of muscles while “opening” the front of the body and decompressing the spine with a focused breath. Opening the front of the body and strengthening the back of the body helps reverse the compressive stress of gravity and posture. We recommend this program to most of our patients regardless of fitness level. I found these exercise to benefit patients with degenerative joint disease all the way up to elite athletes.
